Community & Stakeholder Engagement

Mobilizing a Community Around an Overlooked Need: National Diaper Need Awareness Week Campaign for the Junior League of Daytona Beach

Industry Focus: Nonprofit | Community Impact | Philanthropy

Role: Community Engagement Lead | Media Relations | Stakeholder Outreach

Overview: I helped develop and execute a community engagement and

awareness campaign for National Diaper Need Awareness Week, helping shine

a spotlight on an often-overlooked issue affecting families in Volusia and Flagler

Counties. This initiative brought together community partners, volunteers, donors,

media outlets, and local residents to increase awareness and collect essential

supplies for families in need.

Challenge: Many families struggle to afford and adequate supply of diapers, yet diaper insecurity often receives limited public attention. The campaign needed to educate the community, inspire action, and generate support from stakeholders across the region. It also needed to raise awareness that the Junior League of Daytona Beach has the only diaper bank within the two counties.

Execution:

  • Helped develop and implement a community-wide awareness campaign aligned with National Diaper Need Awareness Week.

  • Created targeted media pitches and story angles that highlighted both the prevalence of diaper insecurity and the Junior League of Daytona Beach's role as the region's only diaper bank.

  • Developed a social media content strategy designed to educate the public, encourage participation, and drive donations.

  • Leveraged donor recognition and partner spotlights to sustain engagement throughout the campaign and strengthen community relations.

  • Coordinated messaging across volunteers, partner organizations, and community stakeholders to ensure a consistent and compelling campaign narrative.

Stakeholders Engaged:

  • Families experience diaper insecurity

  • Local businesses and collection site partners

  • Junior League of Daytona Beach members and volunteers

  • Community nonprofit organizations

  • Donors and supporters

  • Local media outlets

  • Community and civic leaders

  • Residents across Volusia and Flagler Counties

Results:

  • Positioned the Junior League of Daytona Beach as the leading community resource addressing diaper insecurity in Volusia and Flagler Counties.

Strategic Leadership, Innovation & Organizational Communications

Effective communications leaders do more than tell stories. They build alignment, influence decision-making, and create frameworks that support organizational success. Throughout my career, I have identified opportunities, challenged conventional thinking, and led initiatives that improved communications, strengthened operations, and positioned organizations for future growth. These examples demonstrate my approach to strategic leadership, innovation, and organizational transformation through communications.

Building a Single Source of Truth (SSOT)

Driving Organizational Alignment Through Information Management

Industry Focus: Manufacturing | Construction & Infrastructure | Corporate Communications

Role: Strategic Communications Lead | Organizational Alignment Champion | Project Developer

Overview: Recognizing the challenges created by fragmented information, inconsistent documentation, and disconnected departmental processes, I developed a vision for a company-wide Single Source of Truth (SSOT) initiative. The goal was to improve communication, collaboration, decision-making, and operational efficiency by creating a centralized, trusted source for organizational knowledge and data.

Challenge: As organizations grow, information often becomes siloed across departments, systems, and individuals. This can create inefficiencies, duplicate efforts, inconsistent messaging, and barriers to collaboration. Thompson Pump needed a framework that would improve information accessibility and flow while supporting long-term growth and operational excellence.

Strategy: I developed a phased implementation plan that would align stakeholders across departments, identify information gaps, establish governance standards, and create a roadmap for centralized knowledge management.

Execution:

  • Conducted discovery discussions with stakeholders across departments including sales, finance, IT, HR, engineering, operations, manufacturing, service, and materials.

  • Identified communication challenges, data silos, and opportunities for process improvement.

  • Developed a business case outlining organizational benefits, implementation considerations, and long-term value.

  • Created a phased testing and implementation framework designed to support adoption and minimize disruption.

  • Established foundational governance concepts to support information accuracy, consistency, and accessibility.

Early Outcomes:

  • Generated strong stakeholder interest and support across multiple departments.

  • Identified opportunities to improve communication, collaboration, and operational efficiency.

  • Established a strategic roadmap for phased implementation and testing.

  • Positioned the organization to improve knowledge sharing, decision-making, and organizational alignment through centralized information management.

  • Created momentum for future adoption by securing early buy-in from cross-functional stakeholders.

Skills Demonstrated:

  • Strategic Planning

  • Change Management

  • Stakeholder Engagement

  • Communications Governance

  • Information Management

  • Process Improvement

  • Executive Influence

Influencer Marketing Program Development

Leading the Adoption of an Emerging Marketing Strategy

Industry Focus: Marketing Agency | Digital Marketing | Client Services

Role: Program Creator | Strategic Advisor | Change Advocate

Overview: Recognizing the growing influence of digital creators and online communities, I proposed the development of a formal influencer marketing capability for Benedict Advertising. At a time when influencer marketing was still emerging as a communications discipline, I identified its potential value for clients and advocated for its adoption as a strategic service offering.

Challenge: Agency leadership initially questioned whether influencer marketing would provide meaningful value for clients or become a sustainable marketing channel. Building support required demonstrating both market demand and strategic relevance.

Strategy: I researched industry trends, evaluated potential client applications, developed a scalable program framework, and presented a compelling business case that connected influencer engagement to measurable business outcomes.

Execution:

  • Conducted research on emerging influencer marketing trends and best practices.

  • Developed a framework for identifying, evaluating, and engaging influencers on behalf of clients.

  • Presented strategic recommendations and market insights to agency leadership.

  • Created implementation guidelines and processes for integrating influencer marketing into broader communications and marketing programs.

  • Helped establish influencer engagement as a new agency capability.

Results:

  • Secured executive support for influencer marketing adoption.

  • Expanded the agency's service offerings and client engagement opportunities.

  • Positioned the agency to capitalize on a rapidly growing communications channel.

  • Demonstrated the value of innovation and forward-thinking marketing strategies.

  • Increased client retention, account growth, and agency revenue.

CONEXPO

Evolving Trade Show Strategy from Booth Traffic to Qualified Business Opportunities

Industry Focus: Construction | Manufacturing | Infrastructure | B2B

Role: Event Strategist | Marketing Lead | Customer Engagement Planning

Overview: CONEXPO-CON/AGG is the largest construction trade show in North America, attracting industry leaders, contractors, engineers, municipalities, mining companies, and infrastructure professionals from around the world. Over multiple show cycles, I helped shape Thompson Pump's event strategy, balancing brand visibility, audience engagement, and business development objectives.

Challenge: Trade shows present a common marketing dilemma: generating booth traffic does not always translate into qualified leads or business opportunities.

At CONEXPO 2023, Thompson Pump successfully generated significant booth traffic through a special guest appearance by Fred Lewis, a mining contractor and television personality featured on Gold Rush. While the activation created excitement and visibility, much of the traffic was driven by celebrity interest rather than direct purchasing intent.

As planning began for CONEXPO 2026, I lead the shift in objective from maximizing booth traffic to attracting and engaging highly qualified prospects seeking dewatering and pumping solutions.

Strategy: Refocus the event experience around customer challenges, product expertise, and solution-based conversations.

The team prioritized:

  • Product solutions, technical expertise, and problem-solving discussions

  • Meaningful customer interactions

  • Targeted audience engagement

  • Sales and engineering collaboration

  • Lead quality over lead quantity

This strategic shift aligned the event experience more closely with Thompson Pump's business development goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead event planning and strategic discussions regarding booth objectives and audience engagement.

  • Developed messaging focused on solving customer dewatering and bypass challenges.

  • Coordinated marketing materials and event communications.

  • Executed booth experience design and encouraged meaningful conversations and lead generation.

  • Evaluated event approaches and engagement strategies across multiple CONEXPO cycles.

  • Created and managed the event budget.

Impact:

  • Successfully evolved event strategy from awareness-driven engagement to solution-focused customer interaction.

  • Increased the quality of booth conversations and prospect engagement.

  • Generated a stronger pipeline of qualified leads and business opportunities.

  • Improved alignment between event objectives and organizational growth goals.

  • Demonstrated the value of measuring event success through business outcomes rather than attendance alone.

Skills Demonstrated:

  • Experiential Marketing

  • Demand Generation

  • Lead Qualification Strategy

  • Cross-Functional Leadership
